Assalamualaikum and Greetings Everyone.
Maybe I should Try Writing something by using English medium. I do know, ever since i has started learning Russian languages, All words and Pronouns has being mix up. Even i could not speak fluently. In the mean time, I do have some strategies to overcome my own problem.
Before i start, back in Malaysia, it is too difficult for me, To SPEAK and Practice it In front of Friends, Even in front of my own family. But my real problem is, I could even speak English in front of Malay. Maybe because i am afraid of making mistakes? Isn't it?
There are some ways to Improve your Communication Skills. As for me, even though i do now that while i'm writing this entry, i do makes some grammatically mistakes. You will learn better when making mistakes(from movie, MEET THE ROBINSON) .The question is, Knowledge is like a SWORDS, the more knowledge you have, the stronger and sharpen they are. BUT, If you didn't use it OR Use it in the WRONG way, in the end, it will harm yourself (from my opinion). So the reason i wrote this article, are to share some knowledge(ways to improve your communication skills,English) and to show you whether i can still writing and speak(in English medium). And last but not least, this is an idea from some friend.
There are so many ways to improve yourself. As for me, i do loves to play computer games since childhood. As you know, Games are made in totally English medium. So maybe that was the best way to improve yourself( dude, try this suggestion when you are having English examination). When i was 15 years old, i got an A for my English subject. Meanwhile, B for my Mother language which is MALAY language. Then i realized that, while writing the English essay, i have use so many advance WORDS which i learned it from RED ALERT 3, Half LIFE 2, Plant vs Zombie, Pokemon, Digimon World 3, Age of Empire, And National Geographic. No offence but somehow, games improve my English Skills. hehe.
Besides that, my older brother, Hafiz, always encourage me to watch English movies and now, he suggested to watch English@American series. Alhamdulillah, it improve myself. What i means is usually, american Movies@series comes in two impact for the one who watch it. One will be the benefits, and vice-versa.
Movies like MEET THE ROBINSON, ROBOT, UP, MONSTER HOUSE, 9, Diary of wimpy Kid, Frankenweenie, Madagascar, Mars Need moms, Shrek, Wall E and Etc. They all have its own message which make me think twice( 3D and animated movies, usually use simple American English).
If you think you already good enough to understand high level via English, then Try watch movies like Transformer, Narnia, Star Wars, documentary(national geographic, discovery channel, animal planet), Series like The SIMPSON, Fringe, LOST, Burn NOTICE, The mentalist, and some other.
For readers in Malaysia, i would like to suggest this series "Oh MY ENGLISH". Even though they are using simple English, but ask yourself, you do make mistakes even it just A SIMPLE ENGLISH. True Story..
Then for someone who are wondering, how to improve your skills, try to watch this OLD BRITISH SHOW, Mind Your Language. But be advise, Only take the benefits from it and leave the BAD part.
In addition, try listen to English Medium Songs(there are some people from other country who sang in english). Yuna, Bunkface, Pop shouvit, A.R. Rahman, Maher Zain, Zee Avi, and others. As for me, Maher Zain and Yusuf Islam sang English Nasyied kind of song. Meanwhile, Linkin Park, 30 Second to Mars, Cold play and others (some of their songs have message in it, motivation for me). Artic monkeys and Hot hot Heat are from Britain. That's mean their songs will be in British accent.
And as usual, i do love this "CHILD like" Song...
